Default AUX input redux?

Hi All,

I just ran across the link listed below. The product claims to be a plug-n-play AUX input adapter for Audi's.

Firstly, has anyone tried this product? Secondly, anyone know if it would work in my 01TTQC with the upgraded Bose and 6-disc in the back seat? I'd really like to plug in my iPod and am growing tired of the 6-disc.

I originally wanted to be able to switch between inputs, and I know Jeff Bipes and others have posted some great information on how to not only enable an AUX input, but make it switchable, but I don't have the time/expertise to do the modification myself. Simply unplugging the 6-disc and plugging this product in would be a lot easier for me.

Any help/advise would be great!

Thanks.<ul><li><a href="http://www.rcainput.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&amp;Store_Code=RCAI&amp;Ca tegory_Code=audi">AUDI AUX input cable</a></li></ul>

Default This is the product I use, as I do not have the CD Changer...

You would have to run a cable from the adapter, into the cabin to use this, but it's doable.

I works flawlessly, mimicing the CD Changer. It opens the 'mode' switch to accept the Aux In.

Default Thanks, Jeff!

So all I would need is a length of cable with RCAs on one end and a 1/8" stereo minijack on the other. Then I'd have to run this cable from the back seat driver's side arm rest (where the changer is in my coupe) to the front console ashtray area (where I want to mount my iPod), right?

I just wish there were an easy way to make/buy your switcher so I could easily swap between the changer and this thing for when I want to listen to CDs (or not carry my iPod with me). This would even enable me to install that XM radio I've been thinking about but didn't want to FM-modulate.

Any chance of someone (hint hint) perhaps making and selling just the switch part (to switch between 2 modular DIN inputs) and the buyer (me) supplying the Aux adapter, cost of all parts and a bit to cover the trouble of making it?

If not, I'll probably try out the aux input thing for $70 as I'm getting tired of the low quality sound of my tape adapter for the iPod. I could probably even just buy at Rat Shack an RCA switcher to alternate between the 1/8" miniplug for the iPod and the RCAs for an XM radio.

Thanks again!

Right. like this.

Well, I tried doing that, but the cost of all the parts was way too high.
About a year ago, I put this together, and then asked who would be interested in it.
I sourced all the parts, and the parts alone were over $50 each to make. Add in my time, etc., I decided it was too costly as far as output on my behalf to get all the parts, without firm orders.

I can sell you a "kit" of these parts, and you can find a stereo place to install them, or just drive up some Sat. and I'll install it into your car!

Default Blitzsafe is to come up with a dual input adapter for the Audi...

sometime in January. I've called them and they assure me it's on the way.

Default Serious Inquiry

Jeff,

I was going to spend $70 on just the adapter thing from the rcainput.com site, so I am seriously interested. E-mail me at gadgett@twikiland.org if you'd like to take this out of the forums.

I can do the installation and even the assembly myself if I had the parts and a good set of instructions (including the relay and switches). I have my BSEE but haven't used it since graduation 10 years ago and now focus only on Usability instead. I can follow instructions but circuit design is not my forte.

Let me know... and Happy Holidays!
