CEL
The person that will be able to help you will have a Vag-Com tool - be it a dealer or an enthusiast, and will be able to tell you the reason for the light. Then you'll need to fix the problem itself. It could be a blown DV, a bad MAF, or any number of other things... important stuff.
Without a VAG-Com, I'd hit the dealer asap. Just my $0.02.
Dood, you have a $30k car - take the opportunity to service it properly and maybe it'll be around awhile.

A VAG-Com tool is available to non-audi dealers and the general public. A number of companies sell this tool and the best known version is sold by: www.ross-tech.com
When a dealer connects your car to a computer he is most likely (although I have seen my dealer use a Ross-Tech version for some problems), using the much more expensive Audi/VW system which costs about $15,000.
When the CEL light comes on it will throw a code onto a part of the ECU that collects data. This code is the rationale for the light being on and can then be traced to a specific issue and consequently fixed.
If your non-audi mechanic used a VAG-Com tool, he most likely did not use the $15k version and isn't a Audi Technician either. You need to get the facts from a qualified technician or you need to learn to live with the CEL coming on and off as you have indicated it does. Perhaps the issue is one that the Ross-tech software doesn't support (?). According to you, for $75 bones, authorized service dept. will diagnose the problem. At that point you get to decide whether or not to fix it.
I know what I would do...
