Clearance letter needed to import Audi tt to Canada?
I'm selling my car (03 tt coupe 225hp) to someone across the border....B.C. where it rains a lot......finally my baby will see some weather. He said he needs a clearance letter to get it past customs. Anyone have one?

He won't get a letter until the car is modded for Canada >>
He needs to have baby seat brackets and new bumper supports installed to meet the reg's up here. Audi sells it as a kit. Have him locate his local shop and they can help him.

I think it has the baby seat brackets....as I never pulled 'em out.
The brackets you are talking about are the two metal bkts on the front passanger side between the seat and the backrest?

he needs to read up on www.riv.ca, the clearance letter is from AoA, stating
that all recalls on the vehicle have been completed, and then he will need to get the front and rear bumper replaced/updated for the tumours, drl's activated. Then he will need it inspected at an official inspection place (canadiantire has the contract) and will need to prove the purchase of required parts (receipts) and the labour to install (receipts) by an accredited place ie. Audi dealership within 30 days of import. (maybe 90 days, but can't recall but it is all laid out in the riv.ca site).
The cost, a mere $3-4k from what I have been hearing....
possibly why my 2000 tt up here can sell for $16-19k still... "shrug"

there is several "letters". one from AoA for recalls being completed which >>>
then allows the person to physically bring the vehicle here, then there is the riv standards letter which must be met which gives another letter, that allows the person to legally plate in canada.

sry 'bout that, just have heard that riv has sent out a memo reminding
cdntire that a simple change of the bumper skin is not "all that is required", and suggested they check the paperwork (receipts) for labour charges to ensure the entire process is followed not just the surface appearance.
We're going to see lots of this in the next few months with our dollar being valued higher then the us, and with new car prices being so significantly different.
Case in point:
US price for a 2008 Audi TT coupe $34,900 to start
CDN price is $50,600 to start

Being a Cdn that's imported 2 TT's so far, I agree with seeing the RIV.ca, but
You can also get a recall clearance letter from your local Audi dealership. As long as it has the letterhead of the dealer and Audi of America recognizes this dealer as an official one, the letter is fine. It shouldn't cost anything for you to get it. That's probably what the buyer is asking about.
