Comparison TT225 Coupe versus MB SLK32 AMG
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum so please forgive my question if it has already been asked and answered ad nauseum in the past. I currently have an '02 TT 225 coupe. My lease will be up soon and I am thinking of a change to the MB slk32 AMG. I am interested in any comparisons/comments audi members have about the two cars. I solicited the same opinions from the benzworld forum members and received several informative responses including comments from previous TT owners. Thanks in advance for any info you can give. Frank

Ellen had a TTRoadster (225) and now has AMGSL32
if you ask me they are totally different cars and totally different money, ie...
225 TT (Coupe or Roadster) = $36-$42k car which can be modified to suit personal taste (manual 6 speed)
AMGSL32 = 350hp AMG tuned engine (5 speed multitronic) awesome car with pretty much no need to want / need to mod = oh and costs a hell of a lot more $55+ (not sure of exact price)

The MG is one mean machine
I truly don't think there is a comparo. In straight line performance the MB dominates by far. But in the curves it probably is close. Styling I like the TT more but perf, so long as you are refering to the supercharged monster AMG is not even a contest.

Lets say the 225QR was 42 (mine was). How much have you spent in mods?
I could have easlily afforded the MB (*If* I'd saved all this mod $)
There really isn't too much I'd want to mod on that AMG... It's a beauty.

Your comparing apples and oranges, no? Sure both are roadster but....
one costs around 55k - the other around 40k. Thats about a 15k diff right there. Plus the AMG is a v-6 3 valve per cylinder engine and has 349 hp as opposed to a TT which has 5 valves per cylinder - 4 cylinders. A TTR at the 40k range will only output about 225 hp unless you chip or do a stage 2 or 3 kit - whereas the slk puts out 349 hp.
Looks = Taste = Opinion. In mine - the body of the MB is fine - but no real innovation there in looks. I personally have a real beef against two tone interiors - and this MB can have one if you choose any leather other than charcoal. (Yes - seats can be a completely different color - but I dont like two color seats - just me).
The MB and the Audi have ESP - but I've heard the Mercedes implementation is better.
BTW - add in a premium package (which you can still get in a 225 TTR for around 40k - and your Mercedes is now around 57k). Special paint and interior goes for over 4k.
In fact - I added a few options to make it equivalent to my TTR from the "looks" departement (wheels, paint, etc) and whammo - 65k. 25k more than the TT.
What type of comparison are you looking for - handling, power, price, looks?
