Default Could the ESP light cause the engine to 'shut off'

So ESP light is on...and i think i kindda know why........i recently replace one side of my CV boot (outer) and the dude didnt do a gud job closing the clamp on the outside.....caz grease are all over the place....so i think the grease got to those speed snesor in the wheels hubs etc and thus caz the ESP light to come on......

BUT what i am also getting is when i start the car....it will run for about 2-3 sec and then the engine would shut off..... it will repeat itself like that unless iff i start it and rev the engine for a bit and then drive off

PS the ESP light is not on until i drive off to about 10mph+

So the question is if the ESP/ speed sensor issue caz the engine to shut off like that??

Default I don't believe the ECS will do that, if it is not working you'll just get the light.

Have you hooked it up to VAG COM to see if you are getting any codes?

Default Grease from the boot should not affect the wheel speed sensor - it is an inductive sensor that

detects metal. It does sound like it could be a sensor malfunction, though, since it comes on at low speed. However, the whole system is tested once rolling, so if any component has a problem that can be detected with the system check, that is when the code would get set.

Is it possible the wheel speed sensor was disconnected or damaged when you replaced the boot? Easy enough to check by pulling the wheel.

Default i did hook up a VAG come last just last thurs and nothing >>>>

was showing at that time

but now i got the ESP light and the engine shutting off on me with no CEL lights

i think what i am gonna do is first fix the boot issue today...clean up everything and then see whatz up....if the car still 'shuts off' on me then i'll bring it back to audi since is still under warranty

(well i'll turn everything back to stock fiorst)

Default

IIRC, there is some weird case where a MAF problem can give an ESP light.
