Default Custom air intake done

I used a K&N cone that has an open end - so that the stock ducting dumps cold air right into the top of the cone. I put a little breather filter on the breather hose and moved some metal pressure clips to hold the air box cover on top of the whole contraption so it looks sort of stock at first glance. I am not convinced a heat shield is going to do much in this configuration -but I may try to fab something this weekend.

Temperatures under speed are very close to my previous readings with my VAG program. Heat soak at idle is severe as always - but the cone itself is cold to the touch right after a fast run - so thats a good sign. Actually - I opened up the hood on my wife's A4 to see how the intake in there was mounted - and it was hotter that my TT after a couple 0-90 runs. This was 2 HOURS after we got back from doing some errands (read:no high speed runs). Damn turbos. Damn heat soak.

I'm going to keep it on for a while and see how I like it. Spool up seems quicker as it should. I picked probably one of the worst days to do test runs though - 90+ degrees today.

I definitely missed the intake sounds of the A4.
wooooosh.

Default I think someone just left in the flat K&N and drilled the stock box. What do you think?>

Would that be the same thing?

Default the cone actually should work better

because the cold air from outside dumps right into the top fitler opening - and I can put everything back to stock if needed (no drilling)

Is there a way to do a Ram Air cold shot modification to the stock snorkel, you think?
