Default Custom exhaust vs. aftermarket exhaust...Pros...Cons

A coworker had recently retired to start his own speedshop/tuning business. He mentioned that he can do custom exhausts.
Are there compelling reasons to go this route?

Maximum efficiency depending on your level of tuning when compared to an off-the-shelf exhaust.

Default Speaking of custom exhaust

There is a shop near me that can do custom as well. I have taken all of my other cars there. They usually had crappy pepboys mufflers on them.

What kind of muffler should I get, or just resonator?

UUC is about as free flowing as you can get... custom or not.

Default Personally miltek is pretty darn good. Probably a deal of how much you trust this fellow...

and his knowledge of what makes your car tick.

No UUC importer here. I've got the Milltek and feel that 70mm piping is too much for the K04.

Default Here is the info....

His name is Doug Chase. Here is the info he posted. I don't know Doug and cannot vouch for his work.

<blatant plug>I've been getting into exhaust stuff lately, so if you need a custom exhaust give me a call at 425-269-5636 or email me at timingchain@earthlink.net and I can build one for you. </blatant plug>

Default I don't know the guy. I was thinking more on a general level of pros and cons...

Obviously some cars have a weka aftermarket so a custom shop is the way to go, but with an strong aftermarket for the TT, I couln't see a reason to go this route unless the work/performance was much better or if it was much cheaper....
