Does this sound like a DV problem??
In second and third gear when the engine is stressed(like going up a hill)just as the turbo is about to kick in I hear this "funny noise",like a grinding sound and the car loses power for a second and then it's OK.....Also I raced this guy at a stoplight and really lost power in third gear at about 4,000rpms??

What do you mean "just as the turbo is about to kick in"?
Your turbo starts spinning at quite low rpms. It should have already "kicked in" under normal driving, unless you're really lugging the engine.

Not really.
I am struggling, as is the dealer, to find the problem. Thought it might be the APR ECU, but happens with the stock ECU. Put the stock DV back in as well as it still does it. Usually when I have run it hard for a few miles. I think it may be anti-detonation (PING) kicking in, next step is to get some racing fuel and see if it happens. I'll let you know how I do.

ESP perhaps?
Did you notice if the ESP light came on on the dash?
ESP has been known to malfunction and there could be several possibilities why. On the other hand if you were not travelling in a straight line it might not be a malfunction.
I think what you describe could fit the ESP hypothesis...
Take to the dealer or try turning off ESP.
