I think a piston exiting the block at speed constitutes life.

Default MGA twin cams had a vibration at a high RPM that leaned out the SU carbs resulting in piston holing.

so lean is bad if ignored

or blew a head, etc.

Default happens quick & big time = disaster. My car detonated with carbon build up>>

at full throttle / high rpm. Registered on my pro-diag.
Stock rods probably would have failed .... bye bye block
