Exhaust ideas>>>>no muffler???
went to the local welding shop that can do 3in mandrel bend pipes....
the guy was telling me that i can do a 3in DP ....keep the stock cat...caz i dun wanna mess with it (i live in CA) and then do a 3in from the cat back with just a resonator and no muffler....
just wondering how LOUD would it be without a muffler....
he was telling me that the turbo actually quite down the exhaust quite a bit.....
i dun want my car to be too loud 'uncivilzied loud' i dun mind some noise just not too much
suggestions???

i don't have an aftermarket downpipe, but
my exhaust is just a resonator in the mid-pipe. I don't find it to be TOO loud most of the time, although I'll admit it can be a bit intrusive at times.
The best person to talk to about this is Ryan E., since he has APR's 3" turbo back exhaust, which has no mufflers/resonators at all.

its usually just loud when you are at WOT correct>>>>

i mean i would like to save some $$ from not having to get a muffler (yeah being cheap)
since the 3in mandrel bend is already gonna cost a lotta $$$

funny that you would mention this...
today while i had the car jacked up to put my summer rims on i decided to mess around a little and take the muffler off my apr exhaust and see what it sounded like. i took it off and there was a really deep grumble at idle. i took it for a spin and from about 1000rpm to about 3000 right before boost it was really loud, not obnoxious, just muscle car-ish. after that from 4000 to 5500 it was acutally not that much louder than with the muffler. and at 3000rpm in 5th gear there was actually less cabin drone than with the muffler. i put the muffler back on of course. but it was rather interesting. hope this makes some sense, and could help a little...

I'll let you know what it's like with no cat or mufflers
we're testing the ultimate output of the turbo system and dynoing before and after exhaust, and with and without my 300 cell cat. should be alittle loud with 3" piping from turbo back
