Default Finally.....

Got the "machine" in. However, I posted a couple of days ago that I replaced the MAF and completely rebuilt my Hyperboost, but anything over 15 psi the boost would start to flutter and the DV would open and drop the boost back to 5 psi. If I get completely off the throttle it will allow the boost to climb again. Well now the problem is getting worse, I have the regulator cranked almost all the way counter clockwise and I can here the DV open up and stay open at around 12 psi. It will then stay open and not allow the car to build any boost. No CEL so I'm stuck. It even does it when I put the APR chip back in stock mode. HELP! This sucks, I'm ready to trade this thing in on an old Camaro!

Default Follow the directions before you blow up the car..>

You've shut off all signal to the wastegate at that setting and have unregulated, and possibly damaging boost. Turn the BM machine OFF (fully clockwise), then start opening. 3.5-4 turns oughta be right. You're hitting soft limp mode, a sign of overboosting. Your DV may be sticking open because it's being overpowered. You may also need to clear the codes.

READ the FAQ:

Boost machine FAQ

Default I did a step by step tuning for about an hour.....

But with every quarter or half turn of the reg the results were the same. The DV would open up anytime the boost would hover around 18 psi. Not once did my gauge ever read over 20 pounds. No matter what I did I could not get the car to hold anything over 15 psi.

Default You've done something wrong then or..>>

You've got some other problem. Do you have the one-way valve facing the right way? Are you using a relief valve?

Default Flow on the one way should be from right to left?....

Or from the outlet side of the reg to inlet side of the relief valve..... I hope. Is it possible I have a bad N249? I can't find any vaccuum or boost leaks. The only thing that I can think of is I where I tapped into for my boose gauge, right in front of the fuel pressure reg.

Default You need to fix...>>

The relief valve adjustment section and emphasize the valve works in the Opposite direction and needs VERY little adjustment....Just noticed that!

Default when adjusting the regulator, use quarter turns, then drive, then adjust...

otherwise, you may overboost. i switched from an APR 93 octane chip to a Dahlback chip and had to dial down the regulator 3/4 of a turn and still can get 25psi out of it. so, remember that each chip is different, you'll want to make incremental adjustments before you blow something like TTschwing says.

Default That's correct....>>

What car is this on? 180 or 225? Bad temp sensors have been known to show these symptoms.
The N249 does control the DV, but it gets it's input from the ECU which gets it's input from all the other sensors. If one is sending an out of range signal, it will shut things down by opening the DV...
