Finally got the TTDA installed and some other toys...>>> (little long)
was going to wait for next week, but there was an opportunity today, so i took it.
Well...first off, my 225 is one of the few without ESP, and thanks to Julie and JackTTar's directions, i was able to modify the hoses to accomidate the Forge/Samco intake hose. The hardest part was getting the crappy old hose clamps off...plus the space is tight. Additionally, putting in the new Samco hose was really snug. The brake lines are right there and it almost does not clear. Once i finished the install of the intake hose...about 3hrs...i installed the TTDA. I used the factory inlet and left the lower hose on the TTDA open..I am still finishing the feeds, but will wait till next week when the new FMIC goes in...it will be easier to run the hoses once the frontend is off.
All in all, it went really well...hands are a little chewed up...but anything worth having is always a little work..
NOW THE DRIVE...first off, once i started the car, i immediately notice a dull roar...thought i had a leak somewhere...guess what, i did not, it was the TTDA drawing air in....OMG...and its at idle making that sound..nice...its subtle, but i like it.
From the line the car feels the same, its not until about 35 or 40 mph do you feel the extra pull...but the best part is now with the new intake and the TTDA combined, it pulls hard all the way to 7K rpm...before, you could feel it starting to hit a wall around 5500rpm or so...hard to say if its dramatically quicker, but it does feel a little stronger...need to drive it some more to see if its just my wallet saying its faster
As for sound...the DV is MUCH louder...you start to hear the turbo now earlier..around 2500rpm or so, and its a subtle whistle...then its the classic wwwwhoooossshhhhh.....would be curious to hear what it sounds like going by...
Anyway, that was my adventure today...will post some photos later...Steve I know i owe ya some...
Next week we install:
OCT FMIC
Timing Belt
Phenolic gasket
Powerflex bushings...
Next month......
Boost machine
Boost gauge....
I am finally starting to catch up to some you big boys and girls!!!!!!

yep...
fyi - I put a small piece section of rubber tubing (like fuel line) around the brake line where it rubs on the samco - made me feel better to not have direct metal rubbing on the line; probably just too obsessive
