Default Getting Timing Belt done....

Hi all,

I have a 2000 Audi TT 180Q with about 58,000 miles on it. I am looking to get the timimg belt done right away. I am just hoping that you guys can give me some advice on the shop that I should take it to. I live in the Pittsburgh, PA area. If any of you guys have any advice on which shop to take it to, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Tadd

Default I can't suggest a shop but...

Your rough price average is about $700 parts and labor. More than that and you're being taken for a ride.

You should make sure they change the belt, the water pump, and the tensioners. And while they've got everything apart, they should be able to change your thermostat as well.

If you can find a reputable independent shop, ask if you can supply the parts for the job. Ecstuning.com offers a nice line of timing belt kits to choose from, maybe save yourself a little money and gain a horse at the same time.

Default Thanks for the advice...

I called the Audi dealer to see what they would charge. They gave me an estimate of $1200. Needless to say, I said no thanks. Now I'm just in the process of finding someone to do it. A few people mentioned Dom's Auto Service in Sewickley because he specalizes in VW and Audi. I contacted him about 3 times about getting a quote and he never got back to me. So, I figured if he won't even give me a price, he must not really want my business. My search continues...
