Going to install APR Chip and feeling nervous
Hi,
I have made an appointment to have an APR chip installed in my new 225 TTC (the faster Lake Silver kind).
I am a little nervous about choosing among the chips available, and am hoping for some reassurance about this particular chip.
Also, I am planning to spring for the FlipSwitch dual mode upgrade with stock as second choice, thinking that would be a hedge against any problems, and make the car feel familiar to dealer techs.
Can you offer some reassurance and comment about this plan?
Thanks,
Neuromancer

You will have fun . . . I have APR chip and Exhuast and both give
character, quickness, and deep sound - "good vibrations" to the TT.
I have the chip/stock mode and TBI/Erase Codes options and think both of those are invaluable - in case of any error codes, you can erase all before you get to dealer and return to stock mode.
You will find that the engine is more willing, very feisty, and lots of fun - sometimes it takes a while for the car to become accustomed to the chip - don't worry, just put more miles on the car. When you can, get the APR exhaust - very, very worthwhile and the oval tips are much, much better looking than stock.
I have 10k on my chip and exhaust.
Good luck!

I love mine...I really like being able to switch between chipped and stock, (for valets etc)
I've had no problems with mine. Also, I believe if I did, APR would have no problem fixing it. I've been very happy with their company. Hopefully your dealer isn't a big pain about it. I got mine at Momentum Audi in Houston, and both my tech and my salesmen know it's chipped and think it's cool. You'll see a very noticable difference in performance! Go with exhaust next.

Re: If you are that worried, you may want to buy an extra ECU and have that chipped.
Thanks to all of you for your replies. I think I will also do the Fault code wiper. That sounds like good insurance, too.
Thanks again; I'll give some follow/up.

My chip experiences....
I don't know what the cost is of the FlipSwitch dual mode is, but you might want to consider taking the money and instead buing a second factory ECU. I am convinced, based upon my experience with chipping (GIAC, not APR but the it's the same situation) that you don't want to go to the dealer with the ECU that has been chipped (even if the aftermarket chip isn't installed at the time you go to the dealer).
Good luck!
