Default Help!! Cannot shift into reverse and first and second shift with great difficulty!! >>

STFA-found only issues relating to 2nd-3rd grind and GorTT's thread, which is similar to my problem, only that my problem lasts for the first few minutes of driving, after which things become normal. It's a '01 225 roadster with 81XXX miles. If the tranny is bad, how much am I looking at? Car is under 3 months/3k miles warranty on engine and tranny from the dealer and the split is 75-25 on parts and labor (dealer pays 75%, and I pay 25%). TIA!

Could be alignment/adjustment. Check here

http://www.dieselgeek.com/sigmasixinstall.htm

look at the adjustment section.

Default thanks!! car is supposed to have passed a 50 pt inspection, so it's unlikely that >>

a bad tranny would have been overlooked! also, if it indeed is the tranny, it might as well go bad now than later as it is under warranty!!

Default you have any idea how much a mechanic would charge me for looking into that?>>

my dealer is like 210 miles from my place-if it costs less, i'll get it checked by my local mechanic and then if he says it needs a major overhaul, i'll drive to my dealer.

A standard inspection won't pick up bad sync's unless a lot of metal went into the tranny case

Default It takes less than 15 minute to DIY with minimal tools - you should at least give it a try

on your own...
