Default help diagnose - clunk in clutch pedal followed by clunk under foot when shifting

this started a few days ago, went away, and just came back again.

when i push in the clutch there is a weird kind of clunk towards the bottom, a like i'm pushing past something to get it all the way down. dont' have to push hard at all, its just a not normal feeling.

then there is a kind of clunk under my right foot as i step on the accelerator after i shift.

i've already had the slave replaced once, and then a hose to the slave (so.. basically slave 2x already!)

there doesn't seem to be any softness in the pedal, yet... transmission sounds normal at this point. shifting HAS been a little notchy since i changed tranny fluid to amsol last june.

any ideas what i might be looking at? clutch? another slave? etc.?

thanks in advance all!

'01 w/miles? prolly the clutch plate 'fingers'. They loose tension @ high miles.

Default 89K...(more)

so if that is the case i'm looking at R+R on the clutch yes?

Default any possibility it's in the pedal cluster?

the fact that you get one click on pressing the clutch pedal in, then another when pressing the accelerator pedal in sounds suspicious. Does it feel like it's clutch/trans related or pedal related?

I'm suggesting this because I had an annoying clicking sound in my previous ride--a '99 New Beetle, with the same pedal cluster arrangement as the TT. I tracked it down to a plastic bit in the pedal mechanism. A small shim fixed it. Maybe it's not your problem but differentiating between the pedal system and gearbox/clutch is the 1st step in the diagnosis.

Default well, the initial clutch clunk isn't audible, its feeling only..

then the other clunk i FEEL under my right foot after the clutch is disengaged and when i start on the gas- so i'm guessing it's definitely not just the pedal.

i'll hopefully get it checked out monday, and hopefully it won't totally go in the 3 miles to my mechanic and hopefully it will be reproducable! haha.

thanks for the thoughts.
