HELP!!!!! My TT broke down.
I drove trough a pothole, not toooo bad, but after driving around for couple of blocks (about 2 minutes), engine oil light came on, and then the engine completely shut off. TT was towed to my dealer, and now I'm told that I need a new engine.
Can a light bump on the road cause such extensive damage? and I'm told that it is not covered under warranty. Did anyone have similiar problem? I'm crying out for your help.............

Two things
A) Full Coverage Insurance will cover this.
B) You probably hit more than a small pothole, bottomed out your TT and cracked the oil pan.
I did this in my Wife's '99 Beetle 7 days after we bought it. They were doing road construction, and were re-paving the cross road of a major intersection in Kansas City. The road pavement differential was 6 inches - I went back and measured it - and the beetle never stood a chance.
Cracked the oil pan, got it stopped and no major damage was done, but insurance covered it.

Its not a common problem
But it does happen. The 1.8 engine in the A4 is prone to these oil pan problems. Insurence will cover the damages i'm sure, but make sure that they put that protective cover back on the car. It saved my car from being totalled out when I was on a ledge of a cliff.<p>JasonC

Yes, my 180 trashed its engine and turbo....
when I hit an anvil at high speed. It was not a warranty job, but my insurance company paid in full.
By the way, my car was 109 days in the shop being repaired. It took so long I got a replacement 225 in the interim.
