Just picked up a Silver TTR Quattro
Amazing, 4 days after deciding that I want one, I'm now driving around a Silver 225hp TT Roadster. I thought I was going to have to wait months but instead was able to get one right away.
My car was stolen last Wed night. I had a 99 Blue Honda Civic Si. It was a fun car to drive but they are just too easy to steal and there is a thriving business here doing so. My friend had 2 Civic stolen over the span of three months (after I got mine). He gave up and got a VW GTI VR6. My car was striped and found by 7:30 that morning.
The car may or may not be totalled...I don't care though. I'm done with Civics. I went through every car on CarPoint and decided that the TT was the way to go.
I started calling around everywhere within 200 miles (and then some!) looking for a car. I finally gave up on that and went and put down a (refundable) deposit on a car that is supposed to show up in October. After asking the dealer about getting all of the paperwork ready for a lease at any dealer that may have a car the suddenly might have a black/black TTRQ showing up within a month. I don't know if that was true or not.
In any case, around 11:30 this morning I got a call from a dealer down in Tacoma. They had a demo TTR that they were going to sell. It had 1200 miles on it along with the Bose stereo, Premium package and Nav computer. I didn't want the nav computer and the car already had miles so I was able to talk the dealer into $1000 under MSRP.
I was surprised to get that so we just put the deal through. We drove it home this afternoon.
Amazing! I'm not really happy about the 1200 demo miles, but it is leased and I have it now! No waiting until summer is over.
So the moral of the story is to keep looking -- you might get lucky.

Re: Just picked up a Silver TTR Quattro
Hi there. I just sent an e-mail to you regarding a Seattle-area TT gathering. If you're interested, let me know and I will forward the information to you.
By the way, I was just at Larson's on Friday and saw a TTr 225 silver/black, must have been your car! Very nice.<p>Sean
