Default key fob question

Hi all,

Thanks for previous help on post.

My daughter has a 2003 225 tt. Only 1 key fob. New key at the dealer is 175.00. That is the fob plus key cutting. He said it would also have to be programmed, another 85.00. I see some posts here regarding key fob programming. My question is...
Is the key fob programming using the door method only for locking and unlocking the door or will that also allow me to start the car. Audi told me they would have to program the fob due to the immobilizer system that is built into the fob.

Thanks,

Bob

Door method is just for the locks, not for the immobilizer.

The Fob is two pieces, I think you can buy just the key part from Audi, find the other part on E-bay.

Thank you.

Is there something I could buy so that I could do this myself?

Purchase an Audi Dealership ? Maybe outside the budget.

You are trying to defeat a security system, it's never that easy or cheap.I beliive that's IMMO3 on the 2002. Rolling code.

APR sells an IMMO defeat, permanently disables the IMMO feature in the ECU.

There are various types of "eastern European" softwares out there . Mainly used for getting stolen cars running.

This is not really an Audi thing it's a modern car thing. The Europeans started adding this stuff to prevent theft and now the new Domestic and Asian Imports all have it as well.

Yes, a dealership is a little above the buget. Since they quoted me 175.00 fpr the fob and cuttimg I will call them back and ask them how much just for the cut. If this is cheaper I can pucrchase the fob on line and have the audi dealership cut and program. I called around to some of these locksmith key guys and they want substantially more to do this. If I were to purchase my own fob where would I go and what do I need to purchase? Im afraid to open up the fob to look at the numbers inside. If something goes wrong its the only key that we have.

Easy to pry the remote apart, if you ever have to replace the battery you have to open it up.

FCC # is in the inside, find one on e-bay with the same number.

I found 2 FOBs with matching ID's online. I then found an Ace Hardware that cut the keys.

For $60 I got two new keys and programmed them myself. The only issue I ran into is that there seems to be a maximum of 2 keys per car. This is contrary to all documentation I found.

Sounds like you have a 2000 TT.

You can program the remotes, but not the keys on the later cars.
