Default Loss of Boost

So I searched the forums for an answer, and I think I can narrow this to the DV or hoses...

Anyways, I drove to work this morning with the new APR chip/upgrade running. Things were smooth, turbo was great, lots of power.

Then at lunch, nice sunny day, went to run some errands, and on the way back to work I noticed I had 0 boost.

The turbo is spinning up just fine, sounds normal. No honking noises from the DV area (have an old Forge DV from 2003). No odd noises at all. Just no boost kicking in even though I hear the turbo going.

I'm guessing I need to check hoses, clamps. Should I dissassemble the DV and check it? (any tips here appreciated)

Thanks

Default If it was a massive leak like that you'd probably hear the air venting

and you'd also possibly have a rough idle to go along with it. It's also possible that your MAF just died. When mine finally kicked the bucket it was mid corner and boost just went away completely. No CEL for about 100 more miles. I could hear the turbo spin but absolutely no power.

Default A lot of times, right after performance mods...>>>

Other weaknesses show up (ike a failing MAF) Not unusual. Make sure you're not in Valet mode!

Assuming some underlying reason for boost to have been lost, would this failure have occurred without regard for the chip modification? Would something like an MAF failure be caused or induced by a change in engine management, or has the change in engine management just illuminated a problem already in progress?

I, too am considering an engine management modification, but remain concerned about incurring failures as a result. I know that part of the 1.8T's charm is in its extensibility, but do some of these engine management mods push the engine to fragile limits?

If it's a MAF. The 1.8T is hardly fragile and can be tuned to some outrageous horsepower levels with the correct hardware. The Motronic management sytem is very complex though and basically lives or dies on Sensor input. You haven't said how you are losing boost. Usually it is noticeable when the car goes into limp mode. An unplugged N75 harness will drop everything to 5 psi. The APR program is very good and pretty troble free. You have something else going on probably though it could be a failure of the flash program. Basically you need to take it back to the guys that chipped it and let them diagnose if they can..
