Default McGrath dealership in Glenview, IL is supposedly mod friendly

I was there the other day talking to one of the service guys and he was saying how he occasionally gets RSX guys in there with blown transmissions and coffee can exhausts. So I asked him if the dealership minds cars that are modded. He said they don't mind at all and will actually install aftermarket parts. FYI.

Default My comments / questions about McGrath, Glenview, and other local dealers

Not relevant to mods, but it's been bugging me.

I've needed my 40K service done for about 6 weeks now (I'm actually at 22K, but it's 40K on time).
After asking on this forum, and a reasonable price ($135), I decided to book into McGrath on a Saturday.
On arriving they told me they would do the 45K as it was exactly the same as the 40K (completely wrong, but they wouldn't have it - I forgot to take the schedule printout with me). They quoted me 2 hours for the job, and I needed to get off to Michigan. After 4 hours, I called and was told it would be another 2 before they started. On that I cancelled, picked it up, and left.

Now I have a quote for $700 from Highland Park, and $35 (!) from Schaumberg for the 40K. (Both places were asking me what was on the service!

Why do dealers not seam to have a clue about the service schedule, and why the price variance?

Default Part of the confusion I think is that each model year of the TT was a little different for the

intervals. I know my 2000 TT is different from a 2001 for instance, part of it may be that Audi changed from a 3 year all inclusive to a 4 year warranty in 2001 for the TT. The maintenance book with the Owners manual is what I am going by. The $700 dollar version the Exchange alluded too once if the car was out of warranty for me, so I have heard a high price as well. But I still have not hit one of the major ones. You are probably OK though sticking with mileage intervals than time. I get the Mobil 1 changed a little more often than mileage would indicate since I do not drive that many miles in a given time period (I have 28K on it).
