Mobile 1 Diesel Truck formula ok to use? It is 5W 40 so it should be right?
Just wanted to double check this with everyone. I have been changing my own oil for the past couple years and have always used M1 0W 40 since it was the next best thing. I have always seen the 5W 40 but with the Diesel thing on the labe it kinda spooked me. After all oil is oil right?

There are extra additives/cleaning agents for diesels >>>
i've always used Delvac 1 which is the same oil in a different package but if you read the back of the bottle it shows that it meets/exceeds requirements for gasoline cars. They did this so large fleets of cars/trucks/heavy equipment can use the same oil.
A few months back I posted an oil analysis of this oil, if youu search you will find it.

NO!!!! the detergent is too high!
"Can I use diesel engine oil in my petrol engine?
Not really. Diesel engines run much higher compression ratios than petrol engines and they run a lot hotter, so the oil is formulated to deal with this. Plus they produce a lot more dirt in terms of combustion by-products. Diesel-rated oils typically have more detergents in them to deal with this (see Using Diesel oil for flushing above). It's not unheard of for diesel oils to clean a petrol engine so well that it loses compression. Diesel-rated oils also have an anti-foaming agent in them which is unique to diesel engines, and not needed in petrol engines."
