...I was on Hoppen's website last night and noticed they are selling a Bosch/MTM 'sport' bypass valve for....

...$46.00!

I think this now qualifies as the least expensive MTM part available, by at least a couple hundred dollars! Has anyone tried this part yet?

Here's the info from the site:

"Here are some notes on the often discussed Bypass Valve. The standard production valve 034145710A was replaced by Audi with the updated 06A145710N in cases of unwanted noise or unsatisfactory throttle response. Several very expensive aftermarket valves were also introduced and sold in recent months by some tuners.

At J.H.M. we decided to wait with our offering of a different type of valve until a unit was available that was designed and produced by the engineers most familiar with Audi products, namely Audi or Bosch Engineering. Furthermore, such new, important components are also tested by the Engineers of MTM and our own staff.


Now we offer the most appropriate and functional valve from Bosch for the Audi products for $46.

This valve has the exact outside dimension and appearance as the standard valve, and therefore fits perfect. The internal components, however are changed and operating perfectly. We simply call this valve the "Bosch/MTM Sport Valve".



A technical bulletin from Audi of Dec. 8, 2000 on TT Bypass Valve problems recommends to install the new Audi unit, part number 06A145710N, should the following occur:

"Groaning or howling noise from engine compartment when accelerating during partial load between 2500-3000 RPM."
"Rattling noise when decelerating between 2000-3000 RPM."
