Default New GIAC + DV = Holy Crap! + 5550 rpm cutout + whistling noise

So I just had the GIAC software and a Forge DV installed. Holy crap that is a huge difference in power! It pulls much better than I expected it to.

I've got 2 problems that have cropped up after the install.

1. A whistling noise at some rpms under full throttle. I had the GIAC installed and drove home to do the DV myself. The whistling noise didn't start until immediately after the new DV was installed.

2. Power cuts out at about 5500 rpm some of the time. Seems to happen more in 3rd/4th than 1st/2nd. This occured before and after the DV.

I searched and found other people with these problems, but couldn't find a reported fix. Any ideas what is going on? The car is a 2001 with 20k miles.

Default good luck, i'm struggling with it too.

same chip. same dv, and even stock dv did the same thing. i keep hitting limp. i think that's what you're hitting. unplug you're ecu for 30 mins or so to reset it. do a throttle body adaptation after that on a cold engine, then drive for about 20 miles, really easy, then 30 more miles at a moderate level. this should take care of it. i'm still testing mine. it was running great and i installed my 3 bar and did a ecu reset and went out and whammed it with only a few miles on the ecu and hit limp, so i'm back to reset and easy miles, it seems these care are alive and somewhat mimic the human body. you also might want to get a samco intake hose and a boost gauge if you don't have one. oh and your MAF might be toast, mine was. you can get them at ecs tuning for $69. what other mods do you have.

Default well>>>

1- if the forge DV you are running is the DV Race version...than that is NORMAL. It is diaphragm based and mine has been doing that for a bit...assuming it is a subtle whistle...

2- when you say...Cut's out....describe the feeling...is a sudden loss like hitting wall???

Some cars with mileage, that get chips, expose a MAF that is failing....
Also, was your GIAC software flashloaded??? Some have experience a higher level of boost with recent flashloads than some previous versions of the software. So you could also be hitting a "soft limp" mode with the sudden cutout as you call it.

More info please! ;-)

Default more info >>>

1. DV is a 007P with (I think) a yellow spring.

2. The cut out could be similar to hitting a wall, running stone cold out of gas, etc. It's similar to if you were runnign full throttle and someone turned off the car with the key, but not quite that dramatic. It only happens some of the time.

GIAC was flashloaded. I don't have a boost gauge.
