Hi all. Driver8 here. I'm new to this forum, although I've been a member of AW since 2000. I've been gone for a while but it's nice to be back!

I just picked up a very clean 2001 Red/Ebony TT 6sp Roadster w/ 24k original miles a couple weeks ago. I'm looking forward to spending some time in here learning everything I can about it. I've attached a few pics from the dealership. I've not yet had time (or weather) to take any other pictures, but I will soon.

We've had several Audis over the years, all quattro + 5/6 speed cars, including a B5 S4, a B6 S4, a A6 2.7T and a B5 A4q. The TT currently shares space in the garage with an '06 BMW 750i (mine) and an '07 Touareg V10 TDI (hers).

Pardon the sig pic. It dates back to sometime around 2004. I need to get that fixed ASAP.

You are correct, sir. Either a very good guess, or I'm overlooking something that gave it all away :-) The car originally came from OH, but has been in WV for the past few years.

Hahaha! Small world, Rob. And good eyes!

It came from the Chevrolet dealer in Clarksburg. I bought the TT for my wife for Valentine's Day from the same guy who sold us our then-new '99 Camaro SS (coincidentally enough, it was also red with a black top). We special-ordered that car and it was delivered the day before Christmas Eve 1998. They put it on the showroom floor and put a big white bow on it. I pointed out to him that we had a heckuva history buying red sports cars from him.

EDIT - I noticed you have an RX8. We used to own an original 1984 RX7 GSL-SE. I know they're worlds apart, but that RX7 was simply a hoot to drive. Great cars.

I'm looking for a MK1 TT to have fun with also... What issues/repair red flags should I be aware of?

I purchased my 2001 Audi Quattro TT convertible, 225HP, last November 2010 with 44,600 mile for just under $13,000.00, second owner. First time I’ve owned an Audi, what a quick car, love that turbo…

Originally I wanted a hard top, but couldn’t find one in my price range with less than 50,000 miles on it.

Default 2001 Audi Quattro TT

Here are two pics when I purchased the TT last November:

Since I purchased the car, I have tinted the windows dark and installed red LEDs under the dash. The rest is stock as far as I know.
