O/T Thanks to a recommendation on this forum, I bought a Nikon Coolpix 775. It
is compact and does everything I need it to do. One thing that struck me is how much it matches my Lake Silver TT. The camera is silver, has a polished aluminum button and a black lens cover.

How about the transfer process and software for...
managing images on your hard drive? Easy to use? Any conflicts with other devices or drivers?
A friend has a Canon digi-camera and wanted to d/l some images onto my computer, so I installed his software to do so. It conflicted with my HP scanner installation (rendering my scanner useless), so I had to delete the imaging software and reinstall the scanner.
I've always been a Nikon fan (still love my two early '70s Nikkormat SLRs and Nikkor lenses), and am in the hunt for a new digital camera to replace my old Sony Mavica.

And when you put the compact flash card into the reader...
with WinXP, you get easy transfer processing.
I just put the card in my computer and the OS starts a wizard. I can rename files as I download them. Very nice. No more confusing names from the camera (DSC00023, etc.)
