Is the OEM roof bars really worth it?

Yep, most Thule stuff is lockable. The bars have four lock cylinders where the bolts are,
each of my bike carriers has a lock, and the ski carriers have locks also. And with Thule you can buy more locks and swap them out if you want one key to open them all.
