OT: TT Cookbook. The Final Chapter (pun intended)...
There were a few final orders that people had requested and paid for, and those people will get them next week. A handful of people who wanted one but did not send me any money (check or paypal), I need to know if you are still interested or not. Those are Brad, Robby, and Leif. If you guys still want your copies, please e-mail me asap.
Now, lest we lose sight of the purpose of this whole endeavor (if you're from the UK, "endeavour" :-D), today (don't ask, I've been busy) I went to my bank and got a certified check for $1,000.00 made payable to the Twin Towers Orphans Fund. In all, I was able to keep the cost of printing, binding, and shipping down to around 55% of the book price (it was higher than expected because I had to ship priority mail in an effort to fill the orders in time for the holidays). In the end, the amount raised was about $920.00, and I rounded this off to an even $1000.

Now, contrary to what some might think, I did not choose this charity because they have "TT" in their title :-). They were however, on the NY State Attorney Office's web-site of certified charities, and their purpose is to benefit orphaned children: "To do so, the TTOF will provide long-term higher educational assistance and meet the mental and physical needs for children who lost a parent in the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon, or on board the four downed airlines." - from their mission statement
Since we had no consensus for the charity of choice, and we did undertake this project because of 9/11, I decided this was as good a place as any.
I am sending this check out today, along with the following letter. In the end, I think we did some good. :-)

Can't turn around and let my coworkers see my eyes all welled up with tears...
I want each and every one of you who participated in this from the buying or selling or sponsoring to reach back and pat yourselves on the back.
And a special thanks to Paul who continues to prove, despite the efforts of his neighbors to prove the contrary, that there are actually real people in Coral Gables.
I am printing the post and hanging it in my cubicle next to my original TT brochure. I am very proud to know you folks. -Ivan
