Performance

Has anyone installed any of the available chip upgrades (wetterauer,garrett) in their TT Quattro as of yet? If so which one and what are your thoughts. Have a TT Quattro looking for more power.

If you have not already, see the article in the September issue of Car & Driver OR Road & Track(Sorry I forget which one). They dyno tested several cars with chip upgrades and basically saw no improvements in performance, the new chips actually made some cars perform slower. Most chips removed the top speed limiter which could be of value to some. They did see an improvement with automatic tranny cars since the chip changed the shift points.

Did you notice that it was a test of.....

non Turbocharged cars (M3, M Coupe etc....) Chip upgrades do improve Turbochaged cars by increasing Boost and changing fuel mixture. in the case of non turbos, the improvements are marginal at best. IMHO

I have a garrett chip in my 180FWD and it was dyno'ed at +20HP and + 65ft/lb of torque. Chips may not be able to do much for non-turbo cars unless other mods go with them (exhausts, engine work, etc), but turbo cars do benefit a lot. You can FEEL this increase and its not a subtle difference.
