Phase one of my master plan is complete!!!
I have owned the oldest corner grocery in Charleston for the past four years. About a year ago, I determined that I didn't enjoy that line of work, and that I would start preparing to sell the store. In January of this year, my store was the target of an armed robbery, during which one of my female employees was raped in the stockroom at knifepoint. Fortunately, the perpetrator was captured on video surveillance, and was arrested two days later. He will be spending the next 30 years in prison. This incident was, of course, horrific, and has had a profound effect on my life. It was the final straw for me, and I began marketing the store almost immediately. About 6 weeks ago, a young couple approached me and expressed interest in buying the store. We went through the process, and today they came in and told me that they would be signing the papers for the loan to buy the store! This is by far the happiest day I've had in I don't know how long. They will be assuming ownership of the store on June first. Yahooooo!
Of course this means that I will miss QDM this year, but I should have no problem making it to TTE.
Now I can begin phase two of my plan, which involves buying a much bigger sailboat and cruising the Bahamas and the Caribbean with my wife and dog after this year's hurricane season ends and before next year's begins (November-May). We've been talking about doing this for years, and the chips have finally begun to fall in place.
As for the boat, we were initially looking at Island Packet 35's, but have decided to buy a larger, more capable cruising boat, a Hans Christian 38. The boat featured in the link is not likely the actual HC38 we will get. That link is for illustrative purposes, but you get the idea.
Anyway, sorry for my version of "the Sully Blog." I just had to share.<ul><li><a href="http://www.lhyb.com/yacht_detail.asp?YachtID=319">Hans Christian 38</a></li></ul>
