Power window problems.........
A little background:
180 TTC FWD, build 10/98, 135 000 km.
I have already replaced driver side motor twice. 6 months ago the passenger side power window started to malfunction; sometimes it worked, sometimes not. 2 months ago it went dead. No more warranty (3 years +) but mangaged to get a 50/50 deal with my dealer. When they replaced the motor they discovered that the old motor still worked but was not able to move the window. The new motor managed to move the window but overheated after a few runs. After an hour of work they phoned me and told me the reason; the wire mechanism that connects the motor to the window had started to rust.
After replacing the wire mechanism (do you understand what I am talking about? => Sorry, but I`m Norwegian), I asked what could be done to prevent it from happening again. When asking if I should lubricate the wire form time to time they told me that Audi of Norway had instructed them NOT to apply any additional lubrication. Factory lubrication should be sufficient (at least for a couple of years.....:-).
Here is my advice based on what my dealer told me:
If you own a TTC and live in places with a lot of rain/humidity, make sure that you operate the passanger side window on a regulary basis.
I guess that using the window from time to time will distribute the factory lubrication and prevent that parts of the wire dry-up and starts to rust. For all of you TTR owners I guess you either live in places with little rain and/or operates both windows when you drive topless...
Best regards

The problem is your name is the same as tsltm. That's the problem with common names, that is why I
am happy that my parents gave me a unique name. I'm the only one I know of that has my name.
