Default Questions from a friend looking at Audi's -- am afraid to post on S4 Forum :-)

1. Is there a performance chip available for Audi that DOES NOT void the warranty?

Answer is "No" -- correct? Don't some dealers chip cars for customers?

2. When is the NEW S4 (based on the 2002 body style) coming out?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

All chips void the warranty, although some dealers, like mine , basically warranty the stuff themselves(this is my understanding of how it works). They 'build' project cars with either MTM or Abt chips, exhausts, coil-overs and sell the cars through a division of the dealership. The new S4 will be out as a 2003/2004 model next february approximately...

Default judging from recent posts, AoA is getting increasingly reluctant to warranty parts on motors that

have aftermarket parts. If you have a chip and your turbos blow, you can pretty much forget about warranty coverage.

Really, AoA shouldn't be able to just void a warranty because of a chip. In cases where something fails, they have to show that the particular failure was due to the modifications. And how do you find that out? in court. If AoA takes a strong stance, then you have to go to court...

And the answer to your first question. There is a performance dealer installed chip that doesn't void your warranty. But its in Europe. (and the warranty is only 1 year anyway...)
