Default Questions re: Child Seats and Rubber Shifter

I test drove an '02 225 convert. this weekend and had two questions/observations:
1) will a child seat fit in the back (of a coupe)? and
2) the 6 spd seemed more rubbery than the 6spd in my 2.7T. I assume they are not the same gearbox. Are there any quick/easy mods available to make the shifter a little less slushy?
3) although I drove the convertible, I will most likely get a coupe. I haven't driven the coupe yet, though. I would expect it to be a little quicker (lighter) and more rigid. Any other mechanical/driving differences between the coupe and convertible?

danke schon

Default answers.....

Yes, a car seat will fit un the back (better to confirm with soem of the youg dads)

Yes, there are kits to shorten and sharpen the shifting.

The big difference between the coupe abd roadster is space (and looks). No mechanical differences.

Default Your assumption would be right. Take a peek under the hood and notice>>

how the engine & transmission sit in a TT. Transverse, vs. the A4/A6/A8 cars which sit longitudinally. This is a result of using the VW MK4 underpinnings on the TT, and is why the TT uses Haldex coupling in the rear to achieve AWD vs a torsen center differential.

Because of this, the TT is shifted via cables, which suck for shifter feel unfortunately.
