Default Rear-view mirror heating?

Which position does the switch need to be in for the heat to be "off" or is it just always on?

tnx

Default There's an article about this...

In the "Tech" section under "exterior" then go to TT.

Default Just touch the mirror. You will see it is HOT! Has anyone done a

mod to shut this off? Wife's Jetta has a 3 postion switch: L adjust, Heat ON, R adjust. Wonder if that could be adapted for the TT?

I think they are on when the defroster is used. I've actually watched them "defrost" when I was doing the front inside windshield.

Default Doesn't seem to bother anything w/ heaters on all the time...

better than forgetting to turn on during snow/freezing temps & ruining the internals due to ice damage. Probably why the designers did it this way. There is not much to the mechanism so I could see how ice could easily damage it. (Having done so myself with an early-mod Euro mirror install!)

Guys, they don't get THAT hot.

Good idea... Mod them so mirrors heat only when rear defrost switch is on (like my early NB)
