I like my 235s on my 18x8's. But I think an 18x9 would need something wider.
Are you planning on running the same tire size front & rear on different size wheels?

If 235/40-18 is preferred on the eights (and this works well) then the matching diameter rear is 265/35-18. The section and tread width difference between the 235 and the 265 is typically 1 inch, and since your rear rims are 1 inch wider, the "stretch" and diameters will be identical.
