seatbelts and airbags question
Do the airbags in the TT (roadster, coupe) fire with reduced force if the seat belts are not latched? Wondering what happens when folks are using supplemental track harnesses instead of the regular belts... do you buckle them behind the seat? Thanks

Re: good question......
I've known people who have gotten in accidents without wearing seatbelts. The airbags have always went off and probably saved their lives. I doubt if anyone would make a car that could possibly have the airbags not go off. Seems like there could be more of a chance of a malfunction in a normal accident. I thought airbags were set to go off at certain speeds and certain colision angles. I used to have 5 point harnesses in one of my older cars. Never got in an accident to test them thought. I always wondered how they would have helped or hurt. Hopefully you'll never have to find out though, huh?

OK, really I was just curious.....
as to what armed the airbags or are they active all the time. Does the key have to be in the ignition or key in the run position? Was just thinking if the car was setting along the street parked and someone ran into it, would all the airbags deploy? I trust Audi to take care of us and so far they have did an excellent job as we have seen already today.

I actually had a chevy blazer that got hit while parked and the airbags didn't deploy. And it got hit really hard, like $6000 in damage. So I think the car does need to be running for them to deploy.

I forget the car... but
I'm sure of the fact I heard the airbags deployed with less force if the belt was off, given the person unbelted travels that much further into the explosion...
