How about linking a series of road trips, across the country? Sort of a Tag Team event, if you will. You could go on it for one day, or as many as you wanted. We'd meet each evening at a particular site (inn, restaurant, etc.). It could start in the Northeast, for instance, work it's way down the coast, then across the country and up the west coast. The more days you're on the trip, the more TT'ers you meet.
We could also have a Tourist Trophy (get it?) that's brought along on the entire trip from coast to coast, changing hands as people left off and joined up the various segments. We could even get a charity involved, and probably get some media coverage as well.
But mainly we could get together, and do some great drives! You wouldn't get to meet everybody, of course (unless you drove the entire event!). I guess we'd need regional coordinators to plan routes, which I don't think would be too hard. What do you guys think of this idea?

They carried a "Victory" flag that everyone signed along the way, along with the #of miles - they kept the "relay point" cities under 200 mi apart and you could ride as much or as little as you wanted. the "relay points" were always at a dealership - and they always got free goodies at each stop. About 40 of them stoped in at the local dealership - headed for NJ - where they were treated to a nice dinner at the local "hot spot"
