So one thing I learned this weekend on the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point (brake discussion):
My stock brakes (everything) are not going to cut it. However, looking at all the options, I am beginning to face an ugly truth: My love of my LMs are going to keep me from getting a full BBK.
The only options I have seen thus far for those of us with non-Porsche LM fitment are:
1) Porsche Big Reds with a lot of poke.
2) Wilwood Dynapros, which are underperforming.
3) Kode's custom-built Wilwood Superlites, which are no longer made.
4) Meem's proposed Mov'It kit, costing bajillions of dollars.
As a result, I am beginning to realize that perhaps I may just have to be satisfied with a Stage II brake kit. I know that there are a few available, however, here is the question at hand:
With Stoptech having trouble with its rotor hats, what is the current preferred Stage II kit?
Any thoughts you have on any of this is greatly appreciated.

Of course "stock everything" isn't going to cut it.
But you can make a big improvement with proper pads (Such as Carbotech XP8) and a tyrolsport bushing kit.
Remove the splash guards for better cooling.
Get slotted rotors. Brembo or ATE.
My only complaint is that it's a PITA to swap the pads for street driving, and the heat can melt the piston boot.
So, yes the BBK is nicer, but it's not $2k nicer.

Seems like the people having problems live in real winter climates
salt and such on the road in the winter seems to be the cause of the problems. All we have out here in OR is rain so I don't expect to have any problems. I've only ever seen a few complaints about the hats anyway, I don't remember seeing any on the TT forum.

Ditto to all above except I'm using Hawk HP+ -- considering 9012 blues but they won't street at all

Watch out on the Willwoods, Corey burned through a set of Ferodo DS3000's in one
weekend at VIR using wilwoods. Stopping and cooling were fine, but the pads are so d@mn small that they wear very quickly. It's the same reason why I ditched the Porsche boxster setup for Stoptech's. The pads are the same price, but Stoptech's last a lot longer.
