Default theoretically, is it possible to put a mk2 front end on a mk1?

like changing the hood, front bumper, lights, etc...

are the mk2 and mk1 the same size?

There's a lot of Look-a-like MK2 front end kits designed to bolt onto a MK1. The cars are totally different

Default yes, since the MkII is bigger you can probably glue the parts onto the MkI.

you might have to remove the MkI headlight so the MKII bi-xenons have enough clearance. I'm not an electrical engineer, but you might run into some issues with the wiring harness for the headlights, I don't know if they are the same.

actually new Altima front end is cheaper, fits better on MK1, and looks same.
