Default They're warped, they're not warped, they're warped, they're not warped.... indecisive rotors (help!)

the stats:

EBC greenstuff on at 1200 miles.
by 10K miles front end would shake on hard stops... warped rotors. Sometime worse then others. Occasionally bad enough for passengers to notice.
18K miles-- OEM pads back on, front end still shakes when braking.
20K miles-- shaking is almost totally gone. Huh?

Default Could EBC material have accumulated on rotors unevenly and now it is wearing off?

you can always remove rotors and check to see if they are flat or have high spots.

Default Car goes to dealer this week for 20K....

and I was hoping they might R&R the rotors... but if the shake is gone, they might not go for that.

Rotor surface looks much cleaner now that I'm back on OEM pads... there is a slight bit of ripple on them, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I have a long list for the dealer, but if I can eliminate this one, it would free up their time for the other stuff.

Default I had the same problem x2 with EBC greenstuff, I tried 2 sets of pads f/r....then went to stoptech..

got EBC green stuff f/r may/00 at about 5k. at about 20k worn about 50% then same problem you have with shimmy began. set appt with dealer for prob. put on OE pads problem disappeared after 1 wk. Never had dealer look at because no problem exhibitted by car. put ebc greeb stuff back on shimmy prob. came back. I was pissed. took rotors to get machined on suggestion by EBC. Okay for about another 10k and problem shimmy reapears. EBC says incompatability with metal make-up in a particular batch of rotors the issue. So off the car goes to get rotors replaced f/r by dealer. put on fresh set of EBCs f/r. Okay for the next 10k but then prob. reapears. changed back to OE pads but does not cure problem. Had dealer replace rotors f/r and then put Stoptech brakes on car. That was at 45000km, now I'm at 51000km all is great with no drama stops from very high speed only increased pedal pressure needed due to decreased piston area/mechanical advantage.

I know many people like the porterfield pads and they report no prob.
