Default tiny accident removing boot...

I am replacing the rubber boot with a leather one and in the process screwed up. After removing the original shift **** and boot I accidentally dropped the torx bit into the area below the shifter. This area has an upper and lower section and of course the bit dropped all the way down to the bottom section. After doing some fishing with some makeshift tools( I will be buying a magnetic extendable pen tomorrow) I can't seem to even see the bit now but I figure it is still in that bottom section. My concern is that this loose torx bit could end up someplace where it could potentially create some damage. I am hoping otherwise that it is harmless in that location. Anybody know how that part of the gearbox is physically structured? Looking in from above the view is very limited so I was checking to see if anyone has done anything equally as foolish! TIA

Default It probably won't cause you any trouble. The only thing down there are the two cables

that run out to the transmission. The screw will just rattle around in there.

BTW you can pull the cover off from the bottom, but it is an extreme PITA. You have to drop the Cats, remove the heat shield from around the driveshaft and get to the bottom of the cover. The heat shield is the biggest PITA of all getting it back in to where it doesn't rub or rattle.

Default i woulndt freat....... just get a magnet pick up tool and fish it out..... or have a shot....

and forget about it..... then find a replacement...... of all things to drop and loose that could cause damage that isnt one of them...... odds are the lill bugger will wedge it self somewhere and never be found again or at least not cause u a problem. on my vw i dont even have a shift boot, i leave the whole shifter open as its kind of neat to see how the cables work when u shift. never had an issue w/ any thing that falls down into the opening doing any damage or geting jamed into any thing.
