Default Tonight I noticed that my lights go out when I turn off the engine, But.....

the parking lights remain on. Is this normal? I guess I never noticed before....Thanks!

Sposedly b/c the gases in the xenons need to have engine running...

Default Maybe this is to save the battery. You can trick it by turning the key but not start the car.

You wouldn't believe I was playing with this feature two days ago because I found a small diffraction grating and I wanted to see the spectral lines of the Xenon headlights. Then I drove out to fetch some dinner and looked at Sodium vapor street lights, Neon signs, and Murcury vapor street lights. The Mercury vapor lights were most distinctive, with what I think are called absorption bands as well as bright emission lines.

By now you are saying "what the f*** is this geek talking about?". So I'll try to shoot a photo of this stuff sometime to share here.

But seriously, I need the lights to open the front door, but if my keys are in the car.....AGH!!!!

I need to drop by a place called "Wacky *****'s" surplus store to see if I can get a better grating.
