Tonight I noticed that my lights go out when I turn off the engine, But.....
the parking lights remain on. Is this normal? I guess I never noticed before....Thanks!

Maybe this is to save the battery. You can trick it by turning the key but not start the car.
You wouldn't believe I was playing with this feature two days ago because I found a small diffraction grating and I wanted to see the spectral lines of the Xenon headlights. Then I drove out to fetch some dinner and looked at Sodium vapor street lights, Neon signs, and Murcury vapor street lights. The Mercury vapor lights were most distinctive, with what I think are called absorption bands as well as bright emission lines.
By now you are saying "what the f*** is this geek talking about?". So I'll try to shoot a photo of this stuff sometime to share here.
