Is this true that there is no FMIC specific programming for the new X chip?

Default

When I got mine in April there was not, but there wasn't a 180 X-Chip then either.

Default I keep hearing that the chip somehow adjusts for the FMIC. True?

I'm certainly no expert, and with my FMIC still sitting in my bedroom have no experience with it yet, but it still seems to me that more could potentially come of its performance benefit if the chip knew it was there. I do realize it has natural or inherrant performance benefits.

Default Yes it does adjust.

on 91, car is basically the same power as with stock ic's. but on 100, car is putting 11+ whp down and 15 wheel tq. this is not stating ANYTHING on what happens on a hot day though.

Default But this is the question. Is the programming different? Or do you just throw on the FMIC

with the x chip and realize the gains. I had always previously been under the impression that the FMIC x chip ran some more boost and timing than the non fmic x chip. What's the deal?

Default ECU will dial up timing based (partially) on Manifold temps...

IMO, FMIC programming is hype.

Default Well I thought that additional boost had been dialed in to compensate

and the timing adjusted a little also.

Default Easy...>>

Timing adjusts itself, a $20 valve (boost machine) can dial up the Boost. I'd rather have the control than have the chip take it out of my hands completely..

Default Oh, yeah, I see, but I was specifically referring to the X chip FMIC version

doing that. Once I'm all set with my gauges I will be likely trying to do a boost machine also. But I really don't need it for smoothness, as the chip is butter to begin with, but I really want it for a bit more oomph. And is there any way you have figured out to be able to do this from INSIDE the car? Like a boost machine scramble boost type of thing for a few more pounds in "emergencies".

Default You could do it from inside....>>

Just run the 2 vacum lines through the firewall and mount the regulator through the lower dash panel...Easy! You really only need the regulator to set boost so one valve will do it....
