Home again, all cleaned up and slowly recovering from my killer cold. What a great couple of days! Some excerpts from the Schwing Chronicles:

Thursday, Day 1
Departed Greenville at 6:00AM. And headed toward Raleigh to hook up with Marcus. Hit rush hour traffic (natch) in Raleigh.......Marcus was itchy to roll and started heading west. We hooked up outside of Raleigh and continued the pilgrimage. Had a great run out and got to the HI about 11:30. Lots of folks there already, washing cars and checking in. Met a bunch of folks, old friends and new. De-bugged the car, unloaded hats. People continued to arrive throughout the afternoon and we all ooohed and aahhed over each others cars. Joel rolled in spewing a trail of gasoline. Mini emergency averted as the car wash hoses were relocated to hose him down and the final petrol flowed down the parking lot....Ran to the airport to pick up Brad (Gokart3) and back to the HI. Around 5:30 the NE caravan rolled in 33 cars strong led by the triumphant SteveTT! Talk about excitement as everyone regaled their adventures and checked in. Being the hat guy, I think I met everyone. The reception was a chance to sit down and relax, but everyone was so keyed up, most of the drinking and meet and greets were done in the parking lot. More than a few hours of drinking at the bar and I crashed at 1:00 or so...

Friday, Day 2
Up Early, not feeling TOO bad! Parking lot detailing, tire kicking, and just plain TT camaraderie ensued for many hours. Occasional breaks for seminars, followed by more Parking lot antics and car ooglings. Performed a few TV Dinner mods on some Hot airboxes (lefTTy, and TTlation). Time for the Biltmore departure as everyone rolled out in small groups. A couple of wrong turns later found us in a long line of TT's snaking in the Biltmore driveway. At one point there were 7 DB coupes all in a row. The Blues Crew rock! Photo staging and milling about for awhile, then off to the tour and dinner. The Biltmore is awesome if you've never been there. This was my second visit and it continues to amaze. Dinner at the Biltmore was terrific. Lots of photos and talk followed. TT Photo contest awards made to some very deserving folks who submitted some great images. The TTwimmens had a surprise for some of us....T-shirts (in pink of course) as honorary TT-Gurls! One I will treasure for years to come! See what harassment will get you? All in fun....what a group! Home to the HI, more bar stories, and off to bed for a long day of driving on Saturday.

Saturday, Day 3
Dingy and drizzly, but not enough to put the damper on the anticipated drives to the Gap and Chimney Rock! Our group rolled West toward the dragon and soon caught the A group of about 20 cars. We stopped for a break and while waiting in line for the only bathroom, the B group came roaring up the hill 30+ cars strong. Cool! We soon got to the foot of the dragon and massed at the small Gas station at the start of the drive. I was the last to leave with Tony (TTP) right in front of me. We had a great run. Living in flat Eastern NC, I'd never had the chance to really push the car in conditions like this. Boy did it work good! My set-up is virtually perfect (for me anyway), no plowing, tire squeal or ESP lights.....scrubbed in those fabulous Kuhmos real good too. Big meet and lunch break at the bottom of the Dragon, swapping stories and smelling brakes!. One by one we peeled off for a run back to the top only to find a tree had fallen and blocked our way. Great excuse for another run down. We milled about pondering our next move. Tom (hack Ths) whipped out his keyboard to plot a new path home on his mobile PC. While doing this, we learn the tree is cleared thanks to some axe wielding by KimTT (who knew?). Darn, back up the hill for ANOTHER run! Uneventful ride back home to the HI arriving there about 3:30. APR had gotten their second shipment of chips in....Ah the temptation! I succumbed. Chipped, gassed and washed, then headed to the final banquet. Turns out everyone was a winner as scads of raffle prizes were awarded. A great time was had by all! Off to the bar again (what a surprise) for the final nite of storytelling. Joel had a fabulous song prepared, many photos snapped, and alcohol consumed. We closed the bar around 2:30 or so I think (little fuzzy on that).....

Sunday, Day 3
Time to leave. Marcus and I rolled down the hill for a quick breakfast at Denny's (not that one, but I did get a great hug on the way out of the HI by Denny dressed only in a T-shirt!). We started rolling East and picked up LusTT on the way. 3 of us caravanned across the state in record time. Home again to unload the car (why did I take all that stuff?).....Dinner with the family and a well deserved rest.

What a great group of people you are. The common TT bond and this forum have made us all more than virtual friends. TT-East was a chance to reinforce that all in person. I don't think that anyone who experienced this event will ever be quite the same. Lot's of great memories, lots of great times and talks....Thanks to all who organized this and worked so hard to bring us all together......We definitely need to do this again....
