Default TT Engine/Turbo update

So a few weeks ago, I got word that my car needed a new engine, new turbo... oil pump was on its way out and starving the engine and turbo, damaging both bad enough to require that, but not bad enough to keep driving til I found a spare car to drive.

Now...

I called the service writer today. Parts are in - turbo, oil pump, misc. pieces. Note: No new engine. I asked. Factory tech said replace the turbo and that replacement of the oil pump should solve our problem. I'm going to call on Monday and ask them why they suggested an engine swap and the factory tech said it'd be fine without it. Is there anything I should do? Should I do anything besides get written proof that the engine wasn't swapped because of the tech's advice? Also realize that a new engine would also include all new belts and new timing belt... could possibly save a lot in the long run. I mean, if there's any damage due to the oil pump, I want it fixed.
