TTDA vane removal trick and hose source hint
First, thanks to Steve for designing and producing these babies. Tres cool!
Trick: I used an L shape pick, the bent end being about 1/4". I was able to insert it in a hole nearest the edge of the vane, where it is strongest, and the handle was straightened, the hook was between the screen and the back of the vane. A sharp pull, and the vane popped right out with no damage, deformation, etc. The screen came out super easy with the drink can.
Source: We have a Woodcraft store nearby, and I got 10' of beautiful translucent grey 2.5" hose used for dust collection systems. It's superflexible, and easy to make 90-180 compound bends. The springwire is very stiff; I couldn't collapse it.
For collectors, they have some cool things. I got two to use in the grill when I get my FMIC. They are about 4" square across the face, with slotted holes in each corner. THey then taper up to a 45 deg angle where the hose attch's. The opening is about 3", tapering smoothly to 2.75, and then to 2.5 after the bend. These are neater looking than 90 elbows in PVC. I ran one down beside the intercooler in the wheelwell, and then ran another piece of hose under the headlight for now. Hose was only $20, the collectors $5 each, in black plastic.
I'll try to get pics up later, and Steve, I'll send you an install pic.
Cheers, all!
