Default Update on my car (part 87).

Battery is holding strong. Yay!!
CVB is now replaced
Wheel bearing is now good too
They fired the tech who fooked my wheel bearing
Picked up a new set of license plate light housings for $29 (not bad for dealer pricing)

And the weird smell is still there at 75 MPH!!!! ARGGHH!

Default I just finally got the car back from the dealer last night! I forgot what a TT feels like~!

I will clean it this weekend. I'm so frustrated with this smell, though, it comes through to the cabin with the HVAC on any setting--even off.

Default is it in the cabin? TT's are pretty tight and once you close off >>>

outside airflow, motor smells do not usually occur....you drop a smoothie in there Mark? ;-)

Default It has me baffled. It comes in from somewhere. I assume the engine bay, but ..

you can turn it off and on like turning a switch just by accelerating up to 75-80 mph and then dropping back down. It's killing me.

Default wash the motor this weekend.....then drive it for a few days>>>

if it is something that has settled on the block or in a bad spot, hopefully that will get it...

From there....i would begin checking under the car for anything that is wet. You will probably need to drop the pan.....

But i am serious about checking inside too.....

Default There was quite a bit of some sort of black fluid dripping from several spots

in the front part of the engine when I looked at it on the lift earlier this week, however I just assumed it was from the leaking CV boot. The dealer sort of shrugged it off after checking my oil level. I don't know, it was quite a bit of whatever it was, and it was definitely liquid--not like what you would expect CV grease to look like.

I couldn't see where it was coming from though.

Default could be a mild coolant leak....cracked hose or something>>>

not to many full on failures of coolant hoses on the 1.8T surprisingly......as you described it as a sweet smell, that would fit the bill.....poke around....and check your reservoir....
