Weekend work: PCV replace, fuel rail mod, new fuel lines, etc.
Tackling a few things this weekend (anything else I should do while I'm at it?):
Replacing fuel lines (I boogered mine up to the point of dangerous once when I didn't know what the heck I was doing - part number 8L9 133 986 C for my 2001 AMU engine).
Replace 95,000 mile old PCV system (thanks John for the <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1668313.phtml">complete write up here</a>.)
<img src="http://images41.fotki.com/v1309/photos/4/41970/6648191/DSCN9670-vi.jpg">
Cleaning up the fuel rail, <a href="http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3986417">removing the wire guides as shown here</a>.
<img src="http://images40.fotki.com/v1304/photos/4/41970/6648249/DSCN9682-vi.jpg">
Replacing the oil temp sensor with one that'll work with my VDO gauge (middle of pic / brass colored sender . . . easy to get to now that the intake manifold is off).
<img src="http://images39.fotki.com/v1292/photos/4/41970/6648191/DSCN9674-vi.jpg">
And some general clean up, replacing any hoses that I have not already, etc.

Did you follow what the guy on Vortex did w/the rail, i.e., 320 grit sandpaper, or did you clean it
some other way.
Looks very sharp.
Also, are you going to tuck the wires behind (like on your link), or keep them in front?
Finally, newbie question, but how do I tell which engine I have (AMU?). Would like to know so when (not if) I order things like PCV lines, I'll get the right things.
Thanks.
Ray

I wiped off the surface dirt and grime with a rag and simple green, then
I used a small steel wool pad which removed the black marks. I have not finished it, likely I'll take some sandpaper to it to complete the job. When I re-install, I'll likely route the wires similar to what the guy on Vortex did (the second time around). I want to make sure the wires are protected . . . I'll post up what I do when I get to that step.
Your engine code is stamped on the left (passenger) side of the engine as shown here:

MarTT...thanks! I'd also appreciate a full size of the pic (adding to my growing library).
When I get my paint chips done, I plan on posting a how-to from start to finish.
MANY, MANY things I want to do/get done with the car.
Thanks again.
