Default Well here's a new one. License plate light (and only that light) came on randomly.

My wife just mentioned to me that my car, parked in the garage, has just the license plate light on. Sure enough, it was. No other lights on. I didn't use my headlights at all today. Unlocking and locking the car did nothing. Turning the lights on and back off fixed it.

Anyone else had this happen? Five and half years, 130,000 miles, and I'm still getting goofy electical gremlins. wtf.

Default I think this is truly unique to you Rich ; )

FYI my license plate lights went out and I noticed a bit of rust and dirt on the contacts; also the lenses had yellowed. I replaced the plastic assemblies as well as the bulbs.

Default Well not exactly the same but my interior lights act funny sometimes during track events.

Those right above the rear view mirror will come on and will not turn off, and then mysteriously will work OK again. This has happened on and off for 70K. Figure a loose connection somewhere, or poorly made connector.

Default Reminds me of my Cadillac Catera. I could be driving down the interstate and the sunroof would open

all by itself. It happened a lot in the rain! I got rid of that car...

Default I remember when one of the big mags wrote in their 4 seasons logbook on the catera...

Doesn't start, doesn't zig.

(For those who don't remember, the marketing campaign was "the Caddy that zigs.")

Mine might need a cleaning... but I would suspect it's something farther up the circuit.

Default That's a common issue on the A4.

My sister in law has one and had this issue. Sunroof would open on it's own, sometimes with the car off and parked. She'd go out in the morning and it would be open.

I researched the issue and found the fix on the A4 forum. The contacts in the switch wear down and sporatically lose contact. I cleaned them and bent them back into place a little and voila - problem solved.

It's your headlight switch - it's split a bit and turned a bit behind the lower dash.
