Default Wherever There's Smoke There's Fire HELP!

Ok, well here's the problem... I came home from college the other day after driving for about two hours or so and parked my car in the garage. I sat there for one minute to let the car cool down and then I turned off the engine and begin to exit. As soon as I opened the door I smelled something funny. The first thing that came to mind was burning wire or the smell of a hot-glue gun. Weird I know but very true. This was the first time it had happened and now it seems to happen every time I drive the car whether I drive it for 2min or 2hrs. I have already checked all the fuses and wires to the headlights/interior lights and can't seem to find the source. It seems to be coming from underneath the car or around the bottom of the door seal (Driver and Passenger side). Anyone had/have this problem or any advice. I will make an appointment with the dealership just incase. Thanks

Default Funny, but..could happen...

I remember when Tom (HackThs) was complaining of a plastic burning smell. Finally after a week or so, I reserved the lift I have access too and low and behold a grocery bag had made its way around the downpipe and was essentially causing a horride smell. Got it off and smell was gone.

Hope its as simple in your case...

I've had the same thing happen. There's a nice scorchmark on my exhaust from a grocery bag.

Exactly. Plastic grocery bag smells just like hot glue gun. Happened to me too.

Default Do a thorough search of the area near the turbo... in my case,

I had a piece of plastic 'loom' that got attached in that area. It ended up catching on fire one day after a drive. Another Forumite, Hans (TTinCT) ended up helping me put out the fire before it burned the whole car. :-(

BTW, this was actually one of the funnier moments in my life - but only because it turned out well.
